Friday, February 22nd, 2008 in Toronto.

This year, the QRD sets out to stretch the boundaries of our industry to dig deep into the current challenges that we as, recruiters, research buyers and suppliers, are faced with on an ongoing basis. The goal is not only to expose and discuss these challenges but also to look at them from a different perspective. By shedding new light on traditional ways of doing, borrowing from different areas and questioning innovation, we will be Exploding Paradigms to provide meaningful, thought-provoking insights. The deadline for applications is December 21, 2007. More information on this event as it is organized, will be available on MRIA’s website.

VoxPop – Media coverage of the first VoxPop release nothing short of phenomenal

VoxPopOn October 29, MRIA launched this education and information campaign with the first in a series of media releases, highlighting survey results related to the coming National Do Not Call Registry. The first VoxPop survey was conducted for MRIA on a pro bono basis by Corporate Research Agency members Bristol Omnifacts, Corporate Research Associates and Blue Ocean Contact Centers, Research House, Consumer Contact, and Justason Market Intelligence.

Media coverage of the first VoxPop release was nothing short of phenomenal and inspiring. For example, the campaign has generated just over 9 million media impressions since its launch on October 29, 2007. Print coverage: 32 dailies, generating 8 million media impressions. Radio interviews: 17 radio interviews on 14 radio stations, generating 1,063,470 media impressions. Stay tuned for our third release, to be sent out in late December

Concours de la relève ...les jeux sont faits...

Le 29 novembre dernier, dans un décor magnifique de l’hôtel Intercontinentale, les trois finalistes du concours de la relève ont présenté et défendu leur proposition devant le grand jury et en présence du Président national de l’ARIM Barry Watson. Merci à nos trois finalistes qui nous ont présenté des propositions de qualité. Même si nous devions choisir un grand gagnant, les trois finalistes sont en fait tous des gagnants. Leurs propositions se sont distinguées parmi tous les participants.

Marc Grégoire de l’Université de Sherbrooke (2e place – il se mérite un prix de 2000 $), Stephan Lukac de l’Université McGill et grand gagnant du concours 2007 (il se mérite un prix de 3000 $ et un stage de 15 semaines chez Sobeys Québec), et Younes Hajoui de l’UQAM (3e place – il se mérite un prix de 1000 $).

63rd AAPOR (American Association for Public Opinion Research) conference, May 15-18, 2008
The conference will bring together almost a thousand of the country's leading public opinion research scientists to discuss and analyze the latest research on public opinion and survey methodology, theory, and results. This year's conference is being held in the fascinating City of New Orleans -- a fitting location given the theme of the Conference: "Polls for the Public Good ". The city will provide an important case study for conference sessions and speakers who will focus on the ways in which public opinion research since Hurricane Katrina has -- and can continue to be -- used "...for the public good".
