MRIA members are hereby reminded that a Special General Meeting of members of the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA) will be held in the High Park Ballroom of the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville, 90 Bloor St. East, Toronto, Ontario on Thursday, September 15, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. (local time) for the purpose of considering and passing amendments to certain governance provisions of the Association's Constitution and General Bylaw.

The four Bylaw Amendment Resolutions to be voted on at the Special General Meeting are available on the Association's web site at www.mria-arim.ca/Events/PDF/BylawAmendment.pdf.

Also available on the web site is a Proxy Ballot, for members who will not be able to attend the Special General Meeting in person, which enables you to appoint another member-in-good-standing as your proxy, and specify how to vote on the four Resolutions on your behalf.

The purpose of the proposed governance changes is to make MRIA a stronger Association, which can attract the highest calibre volunteer leaders and be exemplary in the efficiency and effectiveness of its governance and management. A Summary of and Rationale for Proposed MRIA Bylaw Amendments; and the Proposed New MRIA Board Governance Structure are available on the Association's web site at www.mria-arim.ca/Events/SGM-02.asp.

A Special General Meeting is required at this time to allow the proposed changes, if passed, to take effect with the nomination and election process for MRIA's 2006-07 Board of Directors.

Fundamentals of Marketing Research course now available! The first Fundamentals of Marketing Research course of the School of Marketing Research Calendar year is scheduled for Sept. 29 & 30, Oct. 6 & 7, 2005. Registration for this course is now available on the MRIA website and a registration form will also be mailed to all members in the September issue of Vue. For details, click here.

The MRIA School of Marketing Research year begins in September. Our full line-up for the 2005-2006 year will be published on the MRIA website in late August, as well as distributed with the October issue of Vue. The much-anticipated 2005 edition of the Research Buyer's Guide was included with your July issue of Vue. Additional copies of the Research Buyer's Guide can be purchased from the MRIA Bookstore. The on-line Research Buyer's Guide, also up and running and available to the general public at no charge, will be updated throughout the year by the listing companies as information changes - listing companies make these changes instantaneously by logging on to the site. Other research providers who aren't in the 2005 edition have the option of being added to the on-line version.
