2011 MRIA Fellowship Election Now Underway
Fellowship is the highest honour that MRIA can bestow upon one of its members, and the Association’s 2011 Fellowship election is now underway.

The deadline for Fellowship nomination submissions is April 21, 2011. Newly elected Fellows will be honoured during the gala Awards Banquet on Monday, May 30th at the MRIA 2011 Conference in Kelowna, BC. Nominations must be submitted using the MRIA Fellowship Nomination Form, which can be downloaded by clicking here (PDF format). A nominator and a seconder are required, and both must be either an existing Fellow or hold the CMRP designation. An MRIA Fellowship Nomination and Election Primer – which spells out the election criteria, nomination guidelines, and process details – is available for downloading by clicking here.

The next sitting of the CMRE exam will take place on June 30, 2011, in cities across Canada. Application Deadline is June 2, 2011.

Prepare for the exam and write in confidence! CMRE Prep Workshops will be offered on May 25-26 in Ottawa, May 28-29 in Kelowna, and June 9-10 in Toronto.

Canada’s Economic Engine Is Chugging Along but Not at Full Steam.
Despite a very challenging external environment, Canada’s economy has outperformed its G7 peers in many respects. It weathered the financial and economic crisis better than most industrialized countries and it staged an impressive turnaround. After the sharp bounce back, Canada’s economy lost some of its swagger, expanding at a sluggish 2.3 per cent annual rate in the second quarter of 2010 and a meager 1.0 per cent in the third quarter. Branded as the “social media” candidate, political commentators did not give him a chance. However, on Election Day he won handily beating the heavily favoured candidate by over 28,000 votes.
