MRIA Board Elects Officers For 2007-08
MRIA’s 2007-08 National Board of Directors took office on March 26 and, at its first meeting, elected the following Board members as the Association’s Officers:

  • President: Barry Watson, CMRP, President and CEO, Environics Research Group Ltd., Toronto;
  • President-Elect: John Ball, CMRP, Chief Operating Officer, Ifop North America, Toronto;
  • Vice-President: David Stark, Vice-President, TNS Canadian Facts, Toronto; and
  • Secretary-Treasurer: John Tabone, Manager, New Member Services, Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Toronto.

MRIA Board Appoints 2007-08 Portfolio Chairs
At its first meeting on March 26, MRIA’s 2007-08 Board of Directors appointed 23 members-in-good-standing as Chairs of the Association’s Council, Division, and functional Portfolios.  To read more, click here.

MRIA’s 2006 Audited Financial Statements Presented
At MRIA’s Annual General Meeting on March 26, Executive Director Brendan Wycks presented the 2006 Audited Financial Statements on behalf of Secretary-Treasurer Dave McVetty, who was unable to attend.

A Tribute To MRIA’s 2006-07 President
At MRIA’s 2007 Annual General Meeting on March 26, incoming President Barry Watson paid tribute to 2006-07 MRIA President Nik Nanos on behalf of all members of the Association, and presented him with the MRIA Retiring President’s Award.

New MRIA President’s Remarks On The Year Ahead
As part of MRIA’s Annual General Meeting program on March 26, incoming President Barry Watson presented his perspective on the challenges and issues ahead for the marketing and survey research and business intelligence industry, and the priorities he has for the Association in his 2007-08 Presidential year.

MRIA Awards Presented At Annual General Meeting
MRIA’s Annual General Meeting on March 26 provided the occasion for the presentation of the Association’s four annual academic/scholarly awards.

MRIA Renewal Notice - New Deadline: April 13, 2007 - Do Not Let Your Corporate and/or Individual Membership Expire
With the launch of MRIA's new Portal, our 2007 membership renewal process is nearing completion. Membership renewal, both Individual and Corporate, will now be processed online via our Portal. The deadline to renew for 2007 has been extended to APRIL 13, 2007, to offset administrative delays in launching the French version of the Portal.

Watch For Attractive New MRIA-Branded Certificate
MRIA’s attractive new bilingual Certificates, emblazoned with the Corporate Seal of the Association, were mailed the week of March 26 to Gold Seal Corporate Research Agency, Basic Corporate Research Agency, CMRP, and Fellow members of the Association.  These members are encouraged to frame their Certificate, and display it with pride in a prominent place.

These MRIA-branded Certificates are intended to be permanent, rather than issued annually.  On an ongoing basis, membership-in-good-standing in these classes of membership will be verified via the Association’s web site.

Also enclosed in the Certificate package was a ready-to-frame copy of the MRIA Charter of Respondent Rights.  The Charter is printed in English on one side of the page and in French on the other, so that members may choose which language to display.  Additional copies of the Charter may be ordered by contacting Nora Hollands at the MRIA Office at nhollands@mria-arim.ca or (905) 602-6854 or 1-888-602-6742, ext. 8721.


2007 CMRE Application Deadline Approaching
MRIA offers one sitting of the Comprehensive Marketing Research Exam (CMRE), the gateway to the Association’s coveted Certified Marketing Research Professional (CMRP) designation, each year.

The deadline to apply for the June 21, 2007 sitting of the CMRE is May 24.
