2010-11 MRIA Elections – Balloting Closes March 8
An election for the Association’s 2010-11 National Board of Directors is currently taking place by secret ballot, through electronic means, from Friday, February 19 to Monday, March 8, 2010.

All MRIA Members have received their personal invitation to participate in this year's Ballot by e-mail on Friday, February 19, which contained a direct link to the MRIA Board Election Site where you can cast your ballot electronically (no username or password required). If you haven't already voted, don't miss your chance make your voice heard. Your participation in this vital Association governance process is greatly appreciated.


2010 MRIA Conference & 50th Anniversary Celebration -
May 30 - June 2, 2010

In 2010, our Association will turn 50 years young. To help celebrate this milestone from May 30 - June 2, 2010 at the Westin Habour Castle in Toronto, you have an opportunity to participate in what will undoubtedly be the biggest and most memorable event in the history of the market research industry in Canada. QRCA 2010 Annual Conference Call for Speakers

CASRO Members Optimistic for 2010
February 24, 2010 - US trade body CASRO has reported in its ‘Year-end State of the Business Survey’ that 77% of its members are forecasting increased revenues in 2010; with just 1% believing that revenues will decrease during the year.

CASRO says this optimism is likely to be based on the positive trend in business growth in the 4th quarter of 2009. Survey participants reported an especially strong increase during the quarter, with 71% recording an increase over Q3.

Most are optimistic about economic recovery, and 78% of participating members believe that the recovery has already started or that it will occur this year.

In what CASRO (the Council of American Survey Research Organizations) describes as a ‘challenging year’ for the US research industry, just 32% of respondents reported that business increased in 2009. More than half (56%) said that business decreased in 2009 compared with 2008.

Some research firms continued to experience a ‘sluggish economy’ - 15% claimed reduced Q4 quarter revenues, and 14% reported no change.
