Balloting For 2006-07 MRIA Board of

Be sure to renew your MRIA membership by the February 10
deadline, and make your voice heard in the 2006-07 National Board election,
the balloting period for which will be from Friday, February 10 to Friday,
February 24 at 12 midnight Eastern time.
Response to MRIA's Call For Nominations for the 2006-07
National Board of Directors has been outstanding, and there will be contested
elections in four Director categories.
In the Western Canada, Ontario, and Quebec/Atlantic Canada
constituencies, there are two candidates vying for a single seat. In the
At-Large category, there are eight candidates challenging for three available
In accordance with the Association's bylaws, these elections
will take place by secret ballot, through electronic or regular mail/fax.
The 2006-07 Board of Directors will take office on March 30, the date on
which the Association's Annual General Meeting will be held in Toronto.
Watch for an MRIA e-mail message on Friday, February 10,
when all members-in-good-standing will receive a message that provides balloting
process instructions and a link to the site where ballots can be cast electronically.
Members will be linked to the ballot that is appropriate for their region
of residence: Western Canada; Ontario; Quebec/Atlantic Canada; or Outside
Canada. All ballots will provide the opportunity to vote for candidates
in the At-Large category.
Members for whom MRIA does not have a valid e-mail address
will be sent a hard copy of the appropriate ballot, which may be returned
by fax or regular mail.
If you are voting by electronic ballot, the system will
permit you to vote just once for the permitted number of candidates. Upon
successful completion and submission of your ballot, an automated message
will be sent to your e-mail address to confirm that your ballot has been
received and registered.
The electronic ballot site will provide access to Candidate
Statements, which will also be appended to the hard copy ballots provided
to members who require them.

February 10 by 5:00 p.m. Eastern, providing your unique identifier link
to the Electronic Balloting Site, please contact Brendan Wycks, MRIA Executive

Nominating Committee Seeks Portfolio Chair Candidate Recommendations

The MRIA Nominating Committee is seeking recommendations
of candidates, who must be members-in-good-standing, for the Association's
2006 -07 Portfolio Chair leadership positions.
Portfolio Chairs are not elected by the membership-at-large,
but rather will be either (i) elected by the Board of their respective Council
or Affinity Division of the Association; or (ii) appointed by the 2006-07
MRIA Board of Directors at its first meeting, having the benefit of the
Nominating Committee's recommendations.

Calling all knowledge workers!

The editorial board debated whether to continue to call
the CJMR a "journal" because such a descriptor might intimidate
potential authors. Journals serve ivory tower institutions very well and
there has to be a vehicle in which professors have to publish.
Notwithstanding, the Canadian "Journal"
of Marketing Research is mandated to serve practitioners first and foremost.
To that end, I am inviting research practitioners to submit articles by
February 28, 2006. If you want to submit an outline beforehand, I would
be pleased to respond. If you have recently given a PowerPoint presentation
at a conference and would like to write an article based on the slides,
