Brian Bowman

Business Lawyer, MRIA Legal Counsel

Brian is a business lawyer with a specialization in privacy, access to information and social media law.  He is a partner with Winnipeg's Pitblado LLP and acts as general counsel to the MRIA and numerous members of the MRIA.

Brian is a nationally recognized leader in privacy and access to information law, and is a frequent speaker, media commentator and author. He writes a professional blog at brianbowman.ca, which provides practical assistance to Canadian businesses so they can better deal with issues related to privacy, access to information and social media law.

Brian earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto and Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) from the University of Manitoba.

Before practicing law, Brian lived and worked in Australia and also Mexico City, where he worked for the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As a former University of Manitoba competitive swimmer, he currently trains with the Manitoba Masters Aquatic Club.

David W. Stark, CIPP

David W. Stark, CIPP serves as GfK’s Compliance and Privacy officer for the Americas and is based at GfK Research Dynamics in Toronto. An MRIA Past-President and past Standards Chair, David is an instructor of the association’s Ethical Issues and Privacy course. Additionally, he is a member of ESOMAR’s Professional Standards and Legal committees and is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

 

 

Finn Raben

Director General, ESOMAR

Finn Raben is an Irishman who was born in the Far East and grew up in Europe and the Middle East. He went to university in the Netherlands and Ireland, is an Honours graduate in Languages, with Post-Graduate degrees in Business Administration & Marketing Management and speaks four languages fluently. He has spent most of his working career in Market Research.

Raben's career started at Millward Brown IMS in Dublin, followed by AC Nielsen. At TNS, he firstly turned around the ailing Irish business, and subsequently instigated the Global Accounts programme, working with a number of major global clients, including Procter & Gamble, McDonald's and Microsoft as Global Director of Planning and Coordination for Key Accounts.

Most recently at Synovate, Finn was CEO of Southern Europe where he was responsible for integrating and harmonizing the many companies acquired in the region, into the Synovate offering.

Patrick Glaser

Director of Research Standards - Marketing Research Association

Patrick is the Director of Research Standards for the Marketing Research Association (MRA). He has specialized in research standards development, professional ethics and responsibilities, new techniques and methods, and generally, “problems in the field” for the past 5 years. Prior to that time, he worked in a variety of for-profit and non-profit full-service research consultancy roles, specializing as a methodologist for complex studies.

Patrick is a frequent conference speaker, industry trade-publication contributor, and volunteer on industry-wide initiatives; focusing his efforts and energy on helping to improve, sustain and professionalize the survey and opinion research profession.

Patrick earned his Masters in Survey Research Methods and Public Administration from the Department of Public Policy at the University of Connecticut.
